A Season of Sweaters

Evelyn’s and Marion’s sweaters from Dad

The home I have grown up in has had different seasons. Each season is dictated by where our dad is working at the moment.

We had a season of yorghut, where yorghut became as common as drinking water in our fridge! Our kitchen became flooded with empty yogurt jerricans of both 1 and 3 litres. At that time, Quality Supermarket was on my dad’s way back home so a season of yorghut it became.

There was the fruits season. Then came the juice season. Then the goat’s meat season from Tuskeys. Don’t wonder why all our seasons are about food because along the way we had the phones season. In between, we have had various seasons that my mind cannot remember instantly. Currently, its a season of sweaters. Yes! Sweaters are in abundance at ours.

Apparently, everyone at home has new sweaters every week. This year, our dresscode is of sweater! Whether we feel cold or not, we are just going to be carrying sweaters around. One lovely quality that God endowed my father with is that of extravagance. Whatever he does, he does so in vast measures until we all notice that that is the season. For that am I grateful.

From yours truly

Seasons come and seasons go. The bible does tell us in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 that there’s a time for everything. I may have only talked of some of the lovely seasons we’ve had but we have had tough seasons as well. Seasons that tried us, brought us to our knees and caused us to appreciate all that we took for granted. Be encouraged if its hard, that that too will pass away. If it’s a wonderful season, delight in it with gratitude to Abba Father. It will be a testimony you will cling to when you need rememberance of God’s goodness.

As I bid you farewell today, I would love to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and savior and you will be born again. Accept in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, receive the forgiveness of sins He won for you. Become a member of a church near you where you will be discipled. Shalom my dearest reader. Shalom.
